Education

Our education program sends volunteers to schools, service clubs, etc., with information and presentations on various animal issues and subjects

Education For the third year, volunteers from Humane Society of Cottage Grove have carried out an education program. Volunteers, with a companion animal, visit second grade classroom at South Lane schools to talk about pet care show a short video on animal safety and discuss the importance of pet population control. Each child is left with a small gift; this year, pencils imprinted with “Be Kind to Animals” and bookmarks. Picture shows volunteer Andrea Hummel with her mini-dachshund Ruby. Ruby entertained the children by jumping through a hoop, rolling over and sitting up. The children agreed that, like pets, they are happiest when someone plays with them and teaches them things.
